VES Festival

- Went to the VES visual effects festival in Santa Monica. Saw some great talks, met a few interesting people (some of whom I already knew). Batman Begins was pretty good.

- Went to a party at Zoic studios, wine and cheese mostly. Played some blackjack too. Always good to see a part of Buffy history in person.

- I printed up new business cards but didn't hand out that many.

- Went to a party at Stcott Hessel's house (www.cmlab.com). He's moving to Singapore. Haven't known him long but I'm sorry to see him go. He's a great guy.

New Site

-Launching new website with new identity. Not sorry to see kellerrific go, it was a terrible URL I thought up in about a minute. Bloopatone is one of the many nicknames I use for my dog Blue. I thought it was fun so I went with it.

- If you are looking for my Paint effects tutorial or the DNA models that go with my macromolecular modelling tutorial you can find them here.

The News

- Last weekend was the debut of the Celestial Mechanics project (www.cmlab.com) at the UCLA MFA show. Came out very nicely, my but was blurry but not bad. I thoroughly enjoyed the inflatable planetarium experience. Worked with some great people on the project, I look forward to more.

- Finished up my first semester at Gnomon. I took visual communications with Mark Hannah and figure drawing with Kevin Lllewellyn. Met a bunch of great people, I got an A+ in the class for being a suck up.

- In a couple weeks I start figure maquette sculpture and character design, should be fun.

- Finished my first project for Yu and Co. as a freelancer - I did some Paint Effects work for a feature film tutle sequence, came out nicely but it was a lot of work. I'm enjoying working there so far. They are piling more stuff on me. it may take a while for me to sort out work school and life, right now I'm somewhat overloaded.

- My next tutorial in HDRI3D should be coming out soon concernig creating morph targets in Zbrush. I foolishly agreed to do another article, its due on July 3rd.

- Overall my first 3 months in Los Angeles have been very eventful and I've met a whole bunch of good people, I like pretty much all of them. California is nice ;).

- Missed my first earthquake but my wife felt it. Also we took the dogs to the beach on memorial day. Blue loved it, Daisy was freaked out as usual, mainly because two German Shepards went nuts on her.
