small update

Here's an update to the Ju Ju queen. I added a spot fro her peircings and I worked on the texture. Still a ways to go...

Sadly it is the end of an era for me. Tomorrow I have to go work on site for The Syndicate. Should be a fun challenge but I will miss working at home with my dogs.

and friend..

Here's me at the last Zbrush meeting. I'm credited as "and friend". I love the nebulous anonimity of that label. Best way to get your picture taken in Hollywood is to stand next to someone fabulous. I met Sofia in my life drawing class with Kevin Lllewellyn. We exchnage nerd talk whenever we see eachother at Gnomon functions. She is studying game modelling and animation at the Art Institute and Gnomon. A truly fabulous person...

more new stuff

Here is the basic zbrush model I will be using in my class with Scott Spencer at Gnomon. It's the Ju Ju Queen again. What fun! Can't wait to see her all textured and gnarly.

And here is an experimental animatic I made using my Scott Robertson inspired hovercraft designs and my own shakey camera rig: Hovercraft Chase.

I also have a sculpture I need to finish, I'll upload pictures once its done.

I got a copy of the Skillfull Huntsmen today. I'm thinking of doing a similar project - come up with a rough story line and characters and then base concept designs on that. My big problem is that I get a decent drawing going but I'm not sure where to take it. Like the character i posted yesterday. Neat drawing, but not much of a concept. Of course, we'll see how things change when I start Neville Page's class next month.

new stuff

ok, new sketch, getting better. A little more comic-bookie than my other stuff. I am altering my workflow so that I do a rough sketch in my strathmore sketchbook and then trace it on to marker paper where I render it with my mechanical pencil and sometimes a prismacolor. The marker paper is easier to work with, and erasese better. Plus tracing it allows me to take more chances without worrying about screwing up my original sketch. So here's the latest using this method. I hope to do a painting of her soon:

I added her to my sketchbook section as well. Now everything in my sketchbook is 100% original. Of course its almost all ladies too. At least now I can start adding stuff rather than replacing things I don't like. More to come, hopefully this weekend...

coming soon

I haven't had much time to post but I have been busy making new things. I have animations, sketches, and even sculpture (images) to upload when I get a chance...

animations

A couple animations I wanted to post. This one I made a few years ago using a soundtrack provided to me by my demented twin brother. Every time I play it with sound my dog Daisy gets very upset:

Laughing Skull

The second is one I made over the weekend. Just fooling with some particles. Kind of looks like microscope footage of salmonella or something:

zome bad*ss dude

OK, I finished this sketch, not sure how much I like him. sort of looks like a typical concept art drawing that Strongbad might do. Maybe I'll turn him into a painting or give him a BIGG KNIFE!

pulling the trigger

OK, I'm declaring the Ju Ju Queen done. There's much more I could do to her, certainly the hand never quite worked but I'm declaring her done for now. Overall I'm pleased. I added her to the CG section of my website as well.

Here is a sketch I'm working on for my next painting:

Working at home is going very well these days, lots of interesting animations in the works. My Zbrush class starts in a week. Can't wait! I think I'm going to use the Ju Ju Queen here as my subject for the Zbrush modelling.
