big 'ol update:
Just finished a creature development class with Puddnhead at Gnomon. Lots of fun, five week class with only two students. A lot of people missed out. If you ever get the chance to study with the guy take advantage of it. I've learned so much from just watching him work. But of course, NAJY (Not-a-Jedi-Yet). Here's the result of the class. I recieved a thourough critique on this painting, I hope to refine/rework parts before declaring it finished, then maybe I'll be brave enough to post on conceptart.org. I did the middle/bottom after the top so I want to go and rework the top. I feel much more confident in Painter now (finally).
here's the whole image, compression kind of killed the colors:

here's a close up of the middle section which I think is pretty cool(however its a little flat):

here's a sketch I did in the car on the way to san Diego, I'm hoping to turn it into a digital painting when I get a chance:

I'm also working on a 3D model of one of Puddnhead's designs. Here's the model so far, just the mini gun (the easy part):

here's a link to the priginal
Puddnhead Cyclops sketch. I hope to model it in modo/zbrush and then actually rig it in Maya. I'm going through "The Art of Rigging" right now, great book!
Speaking of books...I'm one and a half chapters away from completing my book
"Maya Visual Effects: The Innovator's Guide". I think it should be good, Geordie Martinez is doing a great job tech editing the thing. preorder it! Lots of interesting techniques. Its really geared towards intermediate Maya users looking to take their skills to "the next level".
Working on and off at Imaginary Forces, i should be there next week. I also have a scientific animation for Digizyme in the works concerning the HIV virus. It may be the hardest animation i've ever done if only because I have almost no visual reference!
And finally, most importantly...
New Version of my demo!!!When I'm done with the book I hope to redesign this site and improve my sketch book area. I did a quick reorganization of the links this morning.
Laters!
