Squirrel Love
Ok, this is a true story, happened about a month ago, I finally have enough time to post some images...and to tell the tale.
I arrived at Prologue one morning, parked my car on a nice suburban street in Venice and starting walking to the studio. I heard a "clop" sound and some squeaking. About 2 or 3 meters away in the middle of the street, a young squirrel was lying and crying out in pain. He could not move his rear legs. I assumed he had fallen out of the tree. It was a pretty sad sight. I figured he had broken his legs but I couldn't leave him there to be squashed by a car so I went over, picked him up and carried him to a soft patch of dirt by the sidewalk, next to the tree he had presumably fallen form. I felt bad for the little guy. He lay there panting, he closed his eyes. I figured he was going to be cat food soon but I had to get to work in the pixel mines so I left him there.
I told my colleagues the story and we all lamented how tough life can be even on furry little animals. Ah, evolution is tough and has no sympathy for squirrels who can't climb. Around four o'clock a bunch of us decided to take a break and go see if the squirrel was still there. We walked back to my car and alas he was gone! We were talking loudly when suddenly the squirrel popped up, fully recovered and ran staright for me. It must have been the same squirrel, he was clearly a baby, just like the one I picked up in the morning. Any ways, he ran right for me so I bent down and stuck out my finger. He grabbed hols and climbed right into my hands!
pictures be proof!

I carried him back to Prologue and showed him to around the office. Eventually I had to get back to work so I took him out side and said my good byes. He clearly did not want to go. When I tried to put him down he crawled up on my shoulder. I wanted to take him home but that's no place for squirrels. Considering what my dogs can do to a stuffed to in 15 minutes, I'm sure the squirrel would not have enjoyed it.

I named him Marty (assuming it was a him, I didn't check). I hope he made it OK. Just goes to show, Evoltuion can forgive a bad climber by endowing him with resilient healing powers!
Good luck Marty! Stay away from cats!
