I'm debating getting a new laptop. Its the old windows versus mac debate, made even more complicated by the whole boot camp on the mac thing. It's really a cheap versus expensive debate. Not sure which way I will go, I really should not be spending money, but then again I have 2.5 jobs going at once right now.
So the Oscars happened. I pitched in at prologue, creating the 3D elements for the transitions. What we actually created and delivered looked cooler than what hit the screen during showtime, not sure why they dropped our specular and ambient occlusion passes, maybe it was a technical thing, maybe it just didn't show up. Overall it happened and it looked good.
This summer should be interesting. My book will be coming out any day now and I'll most likely be showing it off at the Wiley booth at SIGGRAPH. Zbrush 3 is coming out on May 15th, can't wait for that. I may take Scott Spencer's class again just to get caught up with the new features, plus I like his class. In June I will be a guest speaker at a Maya class taught at Harvard Medical School - Maya for molecular/structural biologists. That should be really fun, i can't wait. i will be talking particles I believe. Drew Berry may be a second guest speaker, maybe even on the same day.
Work at Prologue is chugging along. Looking forward to being able to talk about it but that won;t be for a while. It is very cool though...
There's a chance I still ahve my generic Zbrush head on my BOXX machine since I used it in my particle painter tutorial. Unfortunately its a high res version. maybe Zbrush will remember they subdivision levels even though its an obj, we'll see. I've been trying to catch up in my Houdini class. I have been working so much that i have fallen behind in my class project.
